What you will generally need
Requirements differ by category. Confirm yours on auswaertiges-amt.de.
- Passport valid at least three months beyond the intended stay, with two blank pages
- Fully completed visa application form and a current biometric photo
- Travel health insurance covering the whole Schengen area
- Evidence of purpose: invitation, job offer or study place confirmation
- Evidence of sufficient financial means (bank statements or a blocked account)
- For skilled workers: a recognised qualification and, where required, an employment contract or binding job offer
- Biometric data given in person at the mission abroad
